Project 7 - Photo Essay Project Proposal & Test Shots

Project Idea 1 - Walk In My Shoes

My goal for this project is to walk you through the day in the life of a child through their shoes and the environment they are in with the hope of triggering emotion though the picture (evoke emotion or memory). I would follow my own child in particular situations throughout their day or weeks and try to communicate each shot in its environment and emotion. I am trying to get the viewer to visualize themselves or the child in that situation and/or environment.

Shot list:
  • School - crisscross applesauce
  • Crosswalk - walking with someone in hand
  • Sports - playing aggressively
  • Bed - asleep
  • Church - dress up
  • Weather - rain
  • Demonstrate uncertainty and fun

Project Idea 2 - Emotion In Motion Sisters

My goal for this project is to capture the emotions sisters evoke from one another. Through their interactions with one another day to day. I would do this by trying to capture their interaction with one another with the intent on sharing as well as getting their approval and acceptance of this. This is also in an effort to show them a reflection of themselves as well as evoke emotion from the viewer.

Shot list:

  • Anger - screaming at each other
  • Sadness - tears
  • Disgust - either one or both as a result
  • Happy - playing together
  • Peaceful - either watching TV or Sleeping together
  • Sincerity - interaction
  • Love

I really like the focus on the pattern and geometric space in this piece. I picked this image because it's framed well and you can envision yourself walking through the trees almost poetically in this serene atmosphere.

Title: Torcello, near Venice
Theme: Old Worlds: West

The keen ability to be able to capture the moment as well as the pattern in a composition within a frame is just stunning really. I chose this picture because the framing of the moment really grabs the eye and pulls you right into the scene.
